Our story

Maxlab is a hardware company that designs and builds smart cameras and custom IoT devices. We do the electronics, the firmware, and the software ourselves, which keeps projects short and means there is one team to call when something doesn’t work.

Our main products are the Tokay cameras. Tokay Lite is a compact, open-source edge AI camera built on an ESP32. Tokay Pro runs on an NXP processor, supports several sensor options including thermal and spectral, and handles heavier jobs such as tracking a hundred or more objects at once. Both can run on solar power. Both connect to Rainforest IoT, our platform for getting camera data into whatever system you already use, and our ESP32 gateway ties several cameras together on one link.

We also take on custom development. If you need a device with a camera, a radio, or an unusual power budget, we can design the board, write the firmware, and get it running on Linux. Past work includes methane detection, smart parking, and power management for rooftop ice-melt cables.

Our customers are in manufacturing, agriculture, robotics, logistics, recycling, and wildlife monitoring. Most of them come to us with a problem rather than a spec, and that suits us.
